Fly Tying Tip #107

Come on baby, let's do the twist.  Yea, let's think about thread control.  Not just the gauge but the way we use the thread.  First twist counter clock wise and see if you can find where the strand will be fully open.  You will find your thread to be wide and flat.  If you twist clockwise until it is tight you will find the thread to be narrow and taller.

Think about things like making the thread tight at the tail so unraveling can't happen.  Loose and flat through the middle of a body or when dubbing.  Thread can also make a fine looking rib on small flies when twisted tight.

Be creative with the style and size of your thread, there are so many choices to explore. Think floss.............
